Uji (Ujitawara) Japan. The whole town and prefecture has the aroma of green tea! From the plants growing in the nearby gardens and around the temples; the manufacture of world renown Gyokuro, sencha, kukicha, and more; the grinding of matcha; and from using green tea as an ingredient in everything from ice cream to soup, the vegetal, fresh and invigorating aroma of tea just hangs in the air ... everywhere!

Uji is a magical place and one of the major tea-growing areas of Japan. Along with Shizuoka Prefecture these are the backbone of the tea industry in Japan.

While visiting, if you have an opportunity, visit Kyoto with its tea shops, tea houses, and exquisite temples.
