This teacup features a wonderful contrast of light and dark. The juxtaposition of color and the depth of the chisel marks truly make each finely carved chrysanthemum blossom ‘pop’. Although this teacup appears black in photographs, in person, the background color is more of a deep forest green. The cups’ glaze also contains a small amount of grit, providing a pleasant texture and feeling of stability in the hand.
Slight variations in the painting, colors, tooling, patterning and kiln effects of Chinese and Japanese tea wares are to be expected. We have carefully photographed this item as best as possible – please be aware that different device screens can render colors and subtle tones slightly differently.
