Arya Tea Estate is one of the most prestigious of the tea gardens in all of Darjeeling, and Tea Trekker is proud to offer the 2nd Flush of the 2019 harvest to our tea enthusiast customers – we think it is utterly delicious. Clear in style, pure in taste, classical in every way, it is a delicious example of traditional 2nd Flush Darjeeling tea. This tea has all the characteristics that made 2nd Flush Darjeeling tea world famous and provided the moniker: ‘The Champagne of Teas’.
The gardens of Arya Tea Estate (one of the oldest gardens in Darjeeling) were founded by Buddhist monks in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Formerly known as the Sidrabong Garden, the estate’s name was changed in the late 1990’s when the estate re-opened after recovering from a large fire. Averaging out at an altitude of 1500 meters, these gardens’ orientation is sublime, and affords the bushes an optimum growing position in the hills of Darjeeling (one of the finest tea-growing regions on earth). From inception, the tea bushes in this garden have been grown organically, and the estate now adheres to bio-dynamic growing principles as well as being certified organic.
Arya black tea is not made in a large quantity, or even every year, although the gardens intend to manufacture several black, green, oolong, and white teas in each harvest season.
