Layers of mica-like flakes create a ‘cracked ice’ appearance that populates the glazed surface of this exquisite teacup. In some places the flakes of mica are stacked two and three upon each other, but the effect is always light and playful. An elegant teacup that is both delicate in appearance and sturdy in the hand. The cup has a perfectly-proportioned, un-glazed-clay pedestal base.
This cup is the classic size for ‘sencha service‘, and shows well the subtleties of the various shades of steeped Sencha.
Slight variations in the painting, colors, tooling, patterning and kiln effects of Chinese and Japanese tea wares are to be expected. We have carefully photographed this item as best as possible – please be aware that different device screens can render colors and subtle tones slightly differently.
