This very comfortable, handle-less tea steeper is easy to use and makes steeping loose leaf tea for ‘one’ a snap. Two small applied clay leaves are finger grips where one should grasp the shiboradashi with one hand for pouring.
Grooves cut into the pouring lip and holes placed in the lid allow the tea liquor to flow out smoothly while the lid is held firmly in place.
A Japanese variation of a Chinese gaiwan, this attractive vessel relies on a competent mesh sesame that is built into the lid to hold back the tea leaves.
This is a handmade item – slight variations in the painting, colors, tooling, patterning and kiln effects of Chinese and Japanese teawares are to be expected. We have carefully photographed this item as best as possible – please be aware that different device screens can render colors and subtle tones slightly differently.
