This teacup is pinched in 4 places (each one exactly where one’s fingers tend to fall) making this cup very comfortable to hold. As is customary with Tokoname ceramics, the clay is thin-walled, smooth and light. The pattern on the teacup ( which is reminiscent of antique leather strapping on a piece of luggage or sea-going cargo) gives the cup a rustic, well-worn appearance. And just for fun, the artist has worked a slightly-contrasting-colored swirl of clay into the bottom of the cup’s interior and sprinkled tiny particles of ash/sand discreetly across the bottom, to replicate stars in the sky. The interior bottom of these cups is fascinating to observe both before use and also when one has finished drinking.
This cup is a best seller for Tea Trekker!
