I encountered these handy tea vessels in Japan and immediately knew we had to have them for our customers. In our opinion these steepers have it all – a small size; sleek contemporary design; multiple, well-placed holes in the spout for catching tea leaves; a good pouring spout; and are made from rinse-and-go porcelain. Think of these as a handle-less teapot or a Japanese variation on a Chinese gaiwan. For many tea lovers houhins are easier to hold and use than a gaiwan, and they confidently deliver the tea to your tea cup or small serving pitcher. Their stylish, contemporary good looks puts them at ease with nearly all tea cups. We use these at work and when traveling – we each keep on in our carry-on bags. Houhins pack easily and are handy for steeping your favorite tea in hotels and airport lounges.
Please Note: This is a handmade item – slight variations in the painting, colors, tooling, patterning and kiln effects of Chinese and Japanese teawares are to be expected. We have carefully photographed this item as best as possible – please be aware that different device screens can render colors and subtle tones slightly differently.
